I have created a simple romantic tablescape for you to hopefully inspire you to do the same. We never make a fuss over Valentine’s Day here in our household but just adding a few pink items to our table, it created the feel of a special day.
I believe that by keeping a tablescape simple, it creates a more romantic atmosphere in my eyes than adding to much decor to it. So I added simple pink touches here and there to this tablescape
This reminds me of a time when I added pink touches to another tablescape I was working on and my son made this comment: “What’s with the girly table, Mom?”... and now every time I add pink to any table I think of him and smile. “Yes, it’s kind of a girly table, son....and I love it!”....and for the record, he loved it too.
If you notice, I simply added a paper napkin with a flower design on top of the place setting to bring more of the pink color to the tablescape and for the gold flatware to stand out as well. This is a very inexpensive way to bring color to any table setting. You can use Valentine themed napkins but since I had these I figured, why not!
And talking about the gold flatware, can you believe I found each piece at a $1?...thanks to a dear friend who told me about them....she knows me well. I love finding great deals, don’t you?
And to bring more gold to the centerpiece, I added my brass candlesticks. I love how versatile these candlesticks are, they go with almost every tablescape. And I also added pink candles. These candles don’t drip unless you tip them, of course,...and I like them not to drip at all when you are eating dinner since I don’t want wax landing on anything when you bring the dishes to the table. And also they are smokeless, which is perfect at dinnertime. If interested, see sources at the bottom of this post.
I used a blue tablecloth and a blue centerpiece platter to actually make the pink stand out more, which it did. And adding fresh flowers always makes a tablescape a little more special and for me, hydrangeas are always a winner, no matter the occasion.
And if you need a tip for keeping hydrangeas fresh ....remove most or all leaves and add ice cubes to the water and keep adding ice everyday if needed. Also change the water every 3 days. If any hydrangea looks a bit droopy, cut the stem and place in iced water again. I cut the tip of the stems every 4 to 5 days no matter what. This keeps the hydrangeas hydrated. These are going on day 12 and looking pretty great.
Now I hope I have inspired you to create a romantic tablescape for you and your significant other or for your family and friends.
Have a wonderful Valentine’s Day and thank you for stopping by.
Alicia
