Create a beautiful arrangement to welcome your guests into your home with an arrangement of fresh flowers, faux ones or a combination of the two.
I love using fresh flowers whenever I can to welcome family and friends into my home but sometimes fresh flowers can get expensive. Here I have created three different arrangements to fit any household budget. One was created using all fresh flowers, another one just faux flowers and another one with a combination of the two (which is my favorite because it is so economical). The first thing I did before creating any arrangement is fill the bottom of the basket with plastic bags to fill up the space so the flowers don't fall into the bottom of the basket. This keeps them elevated and not droopy. You might need to rearrange these bags as you see the need. Paper bags, newspaper or junk mail work perfectly too. A floral craft foam can be used as well but I didn't have any around so I opted for the plastic bags.
Now to create any arrangement, real or faux, I follow these guidelines. Of course, I break my own rules at times, but this helps me get started and it might help you too if you struggle with it.
NOTE: If you decide to use fresh flowers, read on because you'll need to keep them fresh and you'll need another trick for this one.
Simple Guidelines:
Start with a great hanging basket
Start with a filler greenery (real or faux)
Add 2 or 3 large scale flowers or blooms depending on the size of basket. If you are using two large blooms, place both to one side. If using 3, place two to one side and 1 to the opposite side.
Add smaller scale flowers to the opposite side of the big blooms... this brings dimension to the arrangement.
Add a cascading element (either greenery or blooms that droop down)
Add finishing touches like filler greenery, twigs or a cute sign (these are all optional)
If using fresh flowers, you will need water for them, right? or they will die pretty fast. You can always try to place a little vase inside the basket with water and place the blooms in there, but you are limited on where to place them inside the basket. So what I do instead is use these little plastic tubes and fill them with water and insert the stem into it and that works beautifully in arrangements like these.
Here are two of the baskets displayed on the front door, the left is the faux flowers and the right is a combination of fresh and faux....which is your favorite? I have displayed them both here only to show you visually, I won't leave both of these on my doors. I usually decorate both doors the same way or decorate the left door only when the right door will be in use quite a bit.
Here's all three arrangements together that can help you create what best works for you.
Below is links to most of the products you see in this post. Some of the items I could not find the exact match but a similar option was given.
Use the best hanging basket idea that suits your taste and needs, be it with fresh, faux or a combination of the two.
I hope I have inspired you to create a beautiful welcoming arrangement for your front door.
Thank you for visiting.
